An engineering student, a member of the Ave T Church of Christ, a youth and family minister in training, and a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ, Aaron Burns started the Politically Incorrect Bible Blog with the hope that it will show both Christians and non-Christians alike what the Bible really says. The idea came from the long standing argument of Liberalism versus Conservatism within the Church of Christ, an argument that holds the reputation of causing splits within the Church of Christ, as well as causing Brothers in Christ to argue, debate, and even fight amongst each other. Of course Christians know what the Apostle Paul says in I Corinthians 1:10 when he writes , “I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.”
Division in the Church is an unbiblical principle, and the only reason we know this is through studying of the Bible and looking at what it really says. The most dangerous thing any person can do in regards to the Bible is to take someone’s word for what it says; it is diligent for one to look for themselves at what the Bible is really trying to say. Preachers can preach all day long, teach all they want, and even write blogs all day long, but yet they can be totally and completely wrong on what they are saying if their message is not in harmony with the Bible. This is a biblical principal, as we see in Acts 17:11, “Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”
The point is that misconceptions about the scriptures are abundant , as well as people who have never read the book for themselves. Today’s Christians, which are no different from yesterday’s Christians, are constantly in the spotlight to Non-Christians, and a Christian who does not know their Bible displays a poor, almost hypocritical example to non-Christians. Thus is the author’s vision for the Politically Incorrect Bible Blog, to present the Bible, which is by the author’s belief the authoritative Word of God, in a clear and concise manner to both Christians and Non-Christians alike so that there may be no confusion on what the Bible really says, whether it be politically correct or not.
But what about Political Correctness? And thus is another misconception about the Bible. The Bible itself is not politically correct; it discriminates against homosexuals when it outlaws sodomy in Leviticus 18:22, it brings the pro-choice belief under serious moral and biblical question with Jeremiah 1:5, it states that God hates divorce in Malachi 2:16, and it acknowledges the existence of an eternal hell in several places, one of which is Luke 16:23 when Jesus himself acknowledged its existence with His parable of Lazarus and the rich man. In order to present the Bible and be politically correct in that presentation is to do the Bible very serious injustice, and as thus we present the Bible as what it really is, the authoritative Word of God, which may or may not be what people want to hear. This is not demeaning nor hateful nor condemning nor any other word society can come up with, but rather what the Bible really says.
